Update on our Permitting System Upgrade

Permit System Update-01

The City of Kennewick will be switching to a new and improved permitting system in November.  We had initially planned on a go live date back in August but had to delay the transition due to elements out of our control.

This new platform will be a much easier system to navigate, will provide more information on the status of your application and streamlines the application process on the customer’s end.  This switch requires that the current system be shut down while data is transferred from the old system to the new system. Applying for permits online will not be available after 4 p.m. on Friday, October 22nd, until Monday, November 15th.

During the period of time that we do not have an active permitting system, applications will be accepted over the counter and payment for most applications/permits will be deferred until the new system is up and running. Once the system is running, payment will be required prior to permit issuance, application approval or the next inspection, whichever is first. Application materials need to be submitted on a thumb drive or other digital media.

Over the counter permits such as plumbing, mechanical and street cut permits, will be required to be paid by check at the time of application. Unfortunately, other forms of payment will not be accepted at that time.

Current customers will need to register for a new profile to apply for online permits beginning on November 15th.  All applications submitted after November 19th will need to be submitted online or in person.  Emailed and faxed applications will no longer be accepted.

Scheduling inspections during the permitting system upgrade will also be effected.  Online inspection scheduling will not be available beginning at 4pm on October 22nd until the morning of November 15th.  All inspections needed during this time will be scheduled by calling 509-585-4282.  The noon and the 4:00pm cutoff times for inspection scheduling is still in place during this transition. The 48-hour lead time required for call in inspections will be reduced to 24 hours during this time and will be reinstated at 5pm on Friday, November 19th.

During this transition, we are committed to maintaining our typical review and inspection timelines. Thank you for your patience as we make the needed upgrades to our system.  The new system will greatly improve your online experience for submitting applications and scheduling inspections.
