International Residential Code Changes
Heat detector required in attached residential garage
Fire separation methods of IBC are available in IRC
Overhang fire separation has been changed to require 5’ non-combustible construction on either side of the lot line
Photovoltaic installation requirements have been amended to require access and pathways
Mezzanine allowance increased to ½ of floor area below
Habitable attics are now considered a floor above grade
State amendment to include sleeping lofts
Amended footing sizing chart has been expanded
All deck materials must be preservative treated or naturally durable
Maximum deck post height has been amended
Lateral support for headers has been modified
Accessory structures require moisture barrier on exterior of sheathing
