Responsibilities

The Civil Service Commission is a three-member body appointed by the City Manager to administer provisions of the State Civil Service Act. These provisions regard the recruitment, testing, and establishment of eligibility lists for hiring employees of the City's Police and Fire Departments. In addition, the Commission has authority to hear and decide cases involving the appeal of disciplinary actions such as suspension, demotion, and discharge of classified personnel.
