Registration Policy

Advance registration and payment is required. Please register early; class sizes are limited and may be cancelled if registration is insufficient. We reserve the right to cancel, reschedule or combine activities as needed. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Youth Financial Assistance

Financial assistance for youth is available on a limited basis for those who meet residency and income requirements. For more information, see the financial assistance page.

Refund Policy

Thank you for your support and enrollment! In the unlikely event a class or program is cancelled, registrants will receive a full refund by check mailed within 7-10 business days (credit card transactions are returned to the same credit card account). Participant refund requests are subject to a $6 administrative fee and will be accepted up to 5 days prior to the class start. The $6 administrative fee may be waived if transferred to another class or credited to a registrant’s recreation account (to be used for any Kennewick Recreation program or class within the calendar year). Once the activity has started or after the established deadline, refund and transfer options are forfeited.

Field/Court Refund Policy

Refund requests are accepted up to 3 days prior to each rental date. A $6 per field/court fee will be charged for every field or court cancelled after reservation.  $100 maximum fee will be charged.  The $6 fee will be kept no matter the refund source (check, credit, account).

Cancellations

In the unlikely event a class is cancelled, registrants are notified by phone and/or email. Registrants may transfer to another class, receive a credit, or receive a refund within two weeks of the cancellation.

Fair Share Fee Policy

Residents who live outside of the city limits of Kennewick are encouraged to participate in all programs; however, fees for "non-residents" are higher than those for "residents" for many of our programs and classes. "Non-residents do not pay property taxes that support City services." Boundaries used by the Post Office, the Kennewick School District, and the Kennewick Fire Department are not the same as city limit boundaries, so even though you may have a Kennewick mailing address, you may be considered a nonresident. If you need help determining whether you live inside or outside the city limits, please call our office at 509-585-4293.

Statement of Non-Discrimination

The City of Kennewick does not discriminate on the basis of disability in the programs and activities which it operates, pursuant to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Pub. Non-Discrimination in Community Athletic Programs

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal statute created to prohibit sex discrimination in education programs that receive federal financial assistance. The City of Kennewick does not discriminate against any person on the basis of sex in the operation, conduct, or administration of community athletic programs or sports facilities.

Fair Play in Community Sports Act

The City of Kennewick complies with the State of Washington's "Fair Play in Community Sports Act" (Chapter 467, 2009 Laws, effective date July 26, 2009) that prohibits discrimination against any person in a community athletics program on the basis of sex. Any questions or comments, please contact Nick Farline, Parks, Recreation, & Facilities Director.

Weather Cancellations

If the Kennewick Schools are closed for inclement weather, Recreation programs will also be cancelled. If it is a late start, programs will stay as scheduled. Recreation staff will call you or your coach/instructor to let you know of any cancellations.  You can also check the Recreation Facebook.
