Steptoe & Gage Intersection Improvements Re-Bid (P2012-23)

Project Description

The Steptoe Street/Gage Boulevard intersection project will increase capacity and functionality with the addition of double left turn lanes, double through lanes and right turn lanes in all directions of the intersection. The project will consist of widening on all corners of the intersection, installation of new curb, gutter and wider sidewalks, retaining walls, landscape revisions, a new traffic signal, an asphalt overlay and lane striping revisions.

Status

The majority of the sidewalk and landscape work is complete on this project.  This week (9/25 – 9/29) the contractor will be removing the old signal poles and transferring service to the new signal.  The operation of the intersection will not change at this time.

Other items of work that will take place this week are:

  • Grinding of the existing asphalt at the North, South, East and West legs of the intersection (night work)
  • Removal of the existing signal base 
  • Curb, gutter, and sidewalk work will continue at all corners

In the coming weeks you will see the following work taking place:

  • Placement of new asphalt pavement
  • New temporary striping (full use of all lanes)

Lane closures will be in effect for all of the above operations.  Please be vigilant and practice patience when traveling through the intersection for the safety of the construction crews.
